Grael is a Friendly Human Non-Player Character. They are a prominent Story Character in the World of Eterra.
Overview[]
Grael is the champion Spellblade of Heorot, residing in the woods of Farwood until the time comes to protect his folk. After Rahyeh mortally wounds Heorot, he starts accompanying the Traveler in order to defeat the enemy of his lands.
History[]
Divine era[]
Grael was raised in the Divine era, in Heoborea. When his parents died in young age, he was left alone and he had to fend for himself in the forest, "surviving over the weak". He claims that Heorot kept him away from trouble and defeat.
After Yrun, the Heoborean champion succumbed to Morditas and became the guardian of the Lance of Heorot, Grael took his place. Grael has spent his time hiding in the northern forests of Farwood, waiting yet for a dire moment to grab arms once again.
As invading Osprix forces descend upon Eterra in -12 BE, Grael has been on their way to a peace negotiation that is organized by the Keepers. He is joined by the Traveler and meets up with Keeper Leena. When they find that Keeper Balthas does not turn up, he is sent to safeguard a Keeper vault, while the Traveler finds Balthas.
Even though Grael recovers an unknown artifact, he can never meet up the Traveler in the Keeper's Camp, as they are nowhere to be found.
Later, he is contacted by the Traveler, who informs him about the fatally wounded Heorot and his wish to retrieve the Lance. Hearing this, Grael accompanies the Traveler to the Lance's exact location, the Tomb of Morditas. At the entrance, Grael stays back to check his gear, but he is too late to intervene in the battle of the Frostroot Warden and the Traveler, as Yrun locks him out with an impenetrable patch of icy spikes. After the battle, he commends the Traveler and negotiates their help against Rahyeh, in exchange for their assistance against the Immortal Emperor.
Grael attends the dying Heorot during the final moments, as he gives his blessing on the Lance and the Traveler, covering the entire neighbourhood in snow and ice. Thereafter, Grael tells the Traveler of Lagon, whose blessing is also needed for the artifact. He offers guidance to Deep Harbor, from where the Temple of Lagon is accessible.
After the Traveler returns to Thetima, Grael is thrilled to hear about their accomplishment. He however does not accompany them anymore, as he rather stays back to form an army with Admiral Harton and the Lagonian followers against the Osprix.
As companion[]
Grael assists and guides the player through the Frozen Roots to the entrance of the Tomb of Morditas. He is a Spellblade who uses powerful freezing abilities on the way.
In the Monolith of Fate[]
Grael also appears as a miniboss in the level 90 timeline, The Age of Winter.
Battle[]
In the Frozen Harbour, Grael is confronted with an alternate set of abilities. During the fight, magic Ice Elementals spawn with timed life with the intent to overwhelm the player. Grael himself uses melee abilities: a slam that hits in a "windmill" form, an icy shockwave that travels forward, and a slowing battlecry.
Drops[]
- Alluvion (common)
- Coral Aegis (common)
- Stormcarved Testament (rare)
- Eye of Storms (rare from empowered echoes)
Battle[]
The fight normally commences the same way as in the existing storyline in his temple, however his third phase is made more difficult, as the tidal waves from phase two continue to come from both sides of the ledge, adding an extra challenge.
