Lagon is a God Boss Non-Player Character. They are a prominent Story Character in the World of Eterra.

Description[ | ]

Lagon is god of the sea, storms and moon, ruling the Western seas. He is a massive sea giant with a scale-covered body and great, webbed claws. His mouth is obscured by massive tentacles that hang beneath a wide cyclopean eye, reflecting the image of the moon.

Like all other gods, Lagon takes responsibility and immense power over his territory and followers. Secluded in his far-away underwater sanctum with his playful nature, he is not amused by humdrum civil matters, but by getting entertained in various ways, including toying with unlucky subjects.

Being an Eterran god, Lagon has a cult following comprised of numerous followers. Living with little contact with other parts of the continent and specializing in trading, the Lagonians don't keep a militarized institute other than basic footmen. Lagon does recognize their necessity however, and indirectly 'employs' his chosen ambassador, Architect Liath, to keep matters under control, in return for granting her practical immortality. Besides governance, Liath serves Lagon by harnessing his power, turning lightning in her favour through her inventions and architectural prowess.

Birth of Lagon[ | ]

History[ | ]

In the Divine era, Lagon is sought by the Traveler and their party, when the Osprix conduct a massive skirmish throughout the World of Eterra, eventually reaching Thetima. After a long journey through the Western seas and Lagon's Isle, the Traveler confronts Architect Liath and downs her, all along which Lagon makes them harder to navigate through his temple.

Eventually reaching Lagon, the Traveler is pitted against him in a trial of brawn and brain in order to be recognized by the towering giant. Despite learning of Rahyeh's effort for conquest, Lagon remains unshakable and in general, disinterested. Due to their effort and fortitude however, the Traveler receives his blessing on the Lance, and is allowed to the travel back to Thetima to continue on their journey.

Tactics[ | ]

Phase 1[ | ]

The initial fight takes place at a crescent-shaped ledge, where the insurmountable Lagon towers over you from the other side. Lagon also exposes two large tentacles on two sides of the arena, which have long reach and can hit with high stun chance. Neutralizing the boss is only possible by damaging the tentacles - Lagon's main body does not take damage.

Besides the tentacles, Lagon himself can utilize a number of attacks:

  • Slam the ground with a powerful pincer. This line attack comes after a lengthy wind-up and can lock you in place. Lagon's left pincer has somewhat larger contact damage, while the right one has a guaranteed stun.
  • Burst lightning in a cone from his eye. This attack chills and can be identified from Lagon closing his eye for a moment, as he moves his head in front of you.
  • Telegraph a moon blast. An easily avoidable attack that slows and deals massive damage on contact.
  • Sweep the arena with a lightning beam, dealing damage repeatedly. Lagon slowly moves his head towards you while also focusing with his one eye before performing this.

Attacking the tentacles is the only way to damage Lagon. When the moon tile in front of Lagon is fully charged - meaning he has lost enough health -, Lagon teleports you to the lower part of the arena and seals the way with his tentacles, starting the next phase.

Phase 2[ | ]

To complete the second phase, another moon symbol must be filled. This time, killing Lagon's tentacles slowly fills the moon. Tentacles continuously emerge from the ground below, which possess high stun chance. During the fight, adds of Adrift Meruna and Flayer Sharks of uncommon rarity will spawn, alongside lightning bolts. The watery surroundings of the central part frequently unleash massive tides that can deal high damage on contact. The stairs on both sides of the arena is safe from the tidal waves. In the end, Lagon teleports you back to the upper level.

Phase 3[ | ]

In the third and final phase, Lagon must be fought to the death much like in the first phase. When defeated, Lagon will submit, and he can be talked to in order to be able to take assorted loot and exit the arena via a portal to Thetima.

In the Monolith of Fate[ | ]

Lagon also appears as a final boss in the level 75 timeline, Ending the Storm.

Drops[ | ]

Battle[ | ]

The fight normally commences the same way as in the existing storyline in his temple, however his third phase is more difficult, as the tidal waves from phase two continue to come from both sides of the ledge, adding an extra challenge.
