Soulfire Bastion is a Dungeon. It can be found in the Last Refuge. The level of Enemies and maximum Equipment drops in this zone is 45.
Access[]
The dungeon is accessible from Felled Wood, connected to The Risen Lake and The Ruins of Etendell. The Soulfire Bastion can be entered by expending a Soulfire Bastion Key at the entrance.
Overview[]
In the Soulfire Bastion, Fire Lich Cremorus is experimenting with a newfound way to empower souls with flame magics. These seem to be manifesting in the form of Soul Embers. His turncoat friend, Grin, the Soul Gambler has promised good spoils in return for these inventions, while ensuring that this rivalry remains under his control.
Soul Embers[]
The dungeon itself is an enormous industrial complex, mixing ancient fiery Solarum war machines and the Immortal Empire's soul repositories. Enemies roam the dungeon in great numbers, as well as there are fire traps and barred areas in various places.
The dungeon's denizens specialize in mostly dealing either fire or necrotic damage - a Soulfire Shield is provided by the Soul Gambler, which protects against one of them. The shield can be toggled by expending one Soul Ember, which drops from slain enemies.
Rewards[]
Soul Embers also double as currency: they can be spent at the Soul Gambler in the end of the run, after the final room where Cremorus is slain.
Much like Artem, Grin offers unidentified items that are revealed upon placing them in the inventory. These however come with much better properties, with at least rare rarity and a potential to be exalted, set or unique.
Grin's stock cannot be reset, so the player must make due with what they have. It is still possible to buy back items sold earlier at any trader in the world.
Much like in other dungeons, one of two modifiers can be chosen between level transitions. Besides increasing enemy health and damage, gambling at Grin becomes better with discounts and/or improved items offered.
